Lamongan - Amidst the challenges of an increasingly complex and digital era, efforts to prepare a critical and innovative young generation continue to be encouraged. One of them was carried out by the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Education (BEM FSTP) of the University of Muhammadiyah Lamongan (Umla) which successfully held a Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI) for SMA/SMK/MA throughout the former Bojonegoro Residency, Monday (4/14/2025).

Carrying the theme "Developing Student Creativity and Critical Thinking Skills in the Era of Society 5.0," this activity was held online and attended by students from various schools. Participants were challenged to compile scientific papers that were not only solution-oriented, but also contextual to technological developments and the challenges of today's digital society.

Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Education of Umla, Uswatun Chasanah, M.Sc., in her remarks expressed her appreciation to the committee and participants who had contributed to the success of the event. "This LKTI is a forum for high school students to develop their potential and creativity in the field of research," she said.

He also hopes that this kind of activity can trigger a spirit of continuous learning. "Through this activity, it is hoped that a young generation can grow who have the ability to think critically, innovatively, and provide solutions. To the finalists, continue to learn and innovate. Make this event a motivation to give the best for the nation and state," he added.

According to Syafna Cahaya Arfina, the public relations activity of BEM FSTP Umla, this competition is a form of student contribution in building a scientific culture from an early age. "We want to facilitate students to develop their critical thinking and creativity, while introducing the academic world which is full of innovation," he said.

The series of events began with the selection of manuscripts, presentations of finalists, to a question and answer session with a panel of judges from among Umla lecturers, namely Dr. Ari Susandi, M.Pd., and Rohmat, S.T., M.Sc. This event not only provides a space for exchanging ideas, but also becomes a memorable academic experience for participants.

The winners are entitled to receive certificates, trophies, and coaching money as a form of appreciation for their achievements and creativity.

More than just a competition, this LKTI is expected to be the starting point for the birth of a young generation who are ready to become agents of change—think critically, act in a solution-oriented manner, and make a real contribution to the future of Indonesia.
