Lamongan – A cultural seminar with entrepreneurial opportunities was held by the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Education (FSTP) of the Muhammadiyah University of Lamongan, Friday (11/29/2024). The event took place at the Budi Utomo Auditorium, Building A, Muhammadiyah University of Lamongan (UMLA) and was attended by FSTP students, lecturers, and new students from the 2024-2025 intake.
The seminar took the theme Integrating Gen Z Creativity with Culture for Future Business Opportunities. The event was opened with a performance of the Srikandi Dance by FSTP students. The speaker was the CEO of Tenun Ikat Paradila Lamongan Mifthakhul Khoiri. He produces various kinds of woven fabrics and batik. In his presentation, Miftakhul Khoiri said that generation Z has the potential to develop creativity.
"Generation Z is a generation rich in creativity. If they are able to explore local cultural values, this can be a very valuable asset for creating business innovations," he said. He said, by understanding and utilizing local culture, not only preserving community values, but also creating innovations that are able to compete in the global market.
He suggested utilizing digital technology as a medium for promotion and marketing of culture-based products.
In the question and answer session, participant Rio from the Industrial Engineering Study Program said, this event opened up insights on how to combine interests in technology with local culture to create innovative businesses. The Dean of FSTP UMLA, Eko Handoyo, S.Kom., M.Kom, expressed his gratitude to BEM FSTP for holding this seminar. He hopes that similar events can be held every month.
