Lamongan – The Faculty of Science, Technology, and Education (FSTP) of the University of Muhammadiyah Lamongan (Umla) held a lively and inspiring Batch 2 Industrial Technology Seminar on Saturday, December 24, 2024. Carrying the theme "The Role of Digital Technology to Increase Competitiveness in the Industrial and Health Sectors," this seminar successfully attracted the enthusiasm of more than 150 students and lecturers from three study programs at FSTP: Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Medical Informatics.
Taking place in the Umla Hall, this seminar presented three competent speakers who are practitioners and experts in the field of digital technology.
They are Fahmi Syaifudin, S.Kom., an experienced software engineer; Jacob Win, ACC, S.T., S.Kom., M.Kom., Commissioner of PT Wahana Integra Nusantara; and Rofiq Ashari, S.Kom., a technology practitioner in the health sector.
The speakers dissected various interesting topics around the use of digital technology. Fahmi Syaifudin thoroughly discussed developer productivity with generative AI. Meanwhile, Jacob Win explained digital technology innovations that are predicted to dominate the future of industry, education, and health.
Rofiq Ashari, as a practitioner in the health sector, shared his experiences and insights on the application of digital technology in improving health services. Eko Handoyo, S.Kom., M.Kom., Dean of FSTP Umla, in his remarks emphasized the urgency of mastering digital technology in the era of global competition.
"This seminar is a manifestation of FSTP UMLA's commitment to equipping students with knowledge and skills that are relevant to the needs of industry 4.0. We hope that this activity will be a momentum for synergy between academics and industry players to jointly develop innovations based on digital technology," he said enthusiastically.
Furthermore, Eko explained that this seminar is a real implementation of the outcome-based education (OBE) curriculum applied at FSTP. "Every course in our study program is expected to produce concrete output, such as seminars or guest lectures. The goal is for students to get a real picture of the world of work and the latest technology that is applied," he added. Eko hopes that through this seminar, students can solve various problems that may be faced in the world of work and are able to hone new soft skills related to entrepreneurship in the fields of technology, health, and industry.
The enthusiasm of the participants was clearly visible in the interactive discussion session that took place warmly. The participants, including lecturers, actively asked questions and shared their views with the speakers. The event was then closed with the presentation of souvenirs by each study program organizer to the speakers as a form of appreciation.
Eko said that the Batch 2 Industrial Technology seminar was real evidence of FSTP Umla's contribution in preparing a young generation that is technology literate and ready to compete in the digital era. With the spirit of collaboration and innovation, FSTP Umla continues to strive to produce competent graduates and make a real contribution to the progress of the nation, especially in the industrial and health sectors.
